Can you automate the extraction of information from car accident reports, handwritten and often poorly structured? We implemented a solution using Kognitos AI and OCR analysis and despite the challenges, we achieved 57% accuracy in extracting information and automated 74% of the accident reports.

SLASPO SKP needed to automate the extraction of information from handwritten car accident reports, which were often poorly structured and photographed in low quality.
Solution
How we solved it
We implemented a solution using Kognitos AI and OCR analysis to process these documents.
The information on date and time of the accidents, license plate, vehicle owner (name, ID, contact) and contract ID are being extracted from the photographed PDFs and JPG images.
The documents are often badly structured, handwritten and low quality, so they were difficult to analyse — but in spite of that we have achieved success rate of 74% on a randomized data sample.
